Geography

At Tottenhall Infant School, we are fortunate to have a rich local environment and strong community links, which form the heart of our curriculum. Our vision is to help children develop a deep understanding of what makes our world special, preparing them for their future as responsible global citizens.

Our Geography curriculum begins with the children’s own locality and gradually expands to include countries and cultures from around the world. Learning is developed through a curriculum that inspires curiosity and exploration. Children are encouraged to explore their local area, relate it to maps, and understand their place in the country and the wider world. They are also equipped with the skills to use a range of maps and atlases confidently.

We help children explore and master essential geographical skills and knowledge through exciting, cross-curricular lessons. Each term, learning is brought to life around a key topic allowing children to make connections across subjects while discovering the world around them.

Our curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure progression across the school and to make certain that children are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
